Harry Bittering is determined to cling to his Earth ways. to make an Earth life for himself and his family on the Mars
Correct answer: D. Maon rs
- A. Earth ways
- B. an Earth life
- C. on
- D. Maon rs
Explanation
The error is in option D, specifically in the use of "the" before "Mars." When referring to the planet Mars, "the" is not typically used. The correct phrasing is "on Mars" without the definite article "the."The corrected sentence would be:"Harry Bittering is determined to cling to his Earth ways, to make an Earth life for himself and his family on Mars."Now let's analyze the other options:A) "Earthways" - This is the correct term, and it is appropriately written as one word in this context.B) "an Earth life" - This is also correct, indicating a life on Earth.C) "on" - This preposition is correctly used before "Mars" to indicate the location.

About Prepositions
Prepositions link a noun or pronoun to the rest of the sentence, showing place, time, direction or relation. The difficulty is idiomatic rather than logical: English fixes particular prepositions to particular verbs and adjectives, so “good at,” “married to” and “differ from” have to be learned as units rather than reasoned out.
