How do entry tests work?
- Almost all are MCQ papers on the intermediate syllabus: Biology, Chemistry and Physics for medicine; Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for engineering; English and reasoning in most of them.
- Subject weightage decides where to spend time. MDCAT is 180 MCQs, 45% Biology; an engineering test leans on Mathematics and Physics. Each exam page lists the split.
- Negative marking differs by test. MDCAT has none; some tests deduct marks for wrong answers, which changes whether you should guess. See negative marking and guessing.

How should you prepare for an entry test?
Start from the syllabus and the weightage
Open your test's page and revise in order of weight: the heaviest subject is where a weak chapter costs the most marks.
Practise chapter by chapter with explanations
Solve MCQs on one chapter until you are consistently above 80 percent, and read the explanation on every question you get wrong.
Then solved past papers
Once a subject feels solid, sit its past papers timed, as they will be on the day.

Which entry test is required for MBBS in Pakistan?
