Pak Army Soldier Non-Verbal Intelligence Test
Soldier, clerk and technician recruitment at an Army Selection and Recruitment Centre includes a written test with verbal and non-verbal intelligence questions, alongside the physical and medical tests.
The non-verbal intelligence test is made of figures instead of words. Shapes turn, move round a box, gain or lose parts and change their shading from one figure to the next, and each question asks which figure follows the rule, completes the pattern or breaks it.
What the Pak Army Soldier non verbal intelligence test asks
Which figure comes next in the series?
Which figure completes a three by three pattern?
The first figure changes into the second; which figure does the third change into?
Three figures share a rule; find the one that does not.
How the figure looks in a mirror standing beside it.
How the figure looks reflected in water below it.
Which option is the same figure turned through a quarter or half turn.
The written test decides who goes forward from a large field, so a few extra correct answers move you up the merit list.
Sample Pak Army Soldier non verbal intelligence test questions with answers
1. Which figure completes the pattern? Choose the figure that replaces the question mark.
- A. Pentagon at centre
- B. Pentagon at centre
- C. Pentagon at centre
- D. Arrow pointing down at centre
The third column contains pentagon in every row, and its rotations are 0, 90 and 180 degrees. The missing figure must therefore be a pentagon turned 180 degrees. Option C is the only figure satisfying both rules.
Discuss this question2. Which figure completes the pattern? Choose the figure that replaces the question mark.
- A. Solid square at top left; solid square at centre; half-shaded square, shaded up at bottom right
- B. Solid square at top left; solid square at top right; solid square at bottom right
- C. Solid square at top left; solid square at bottom right
- D. Solid square at top left; solid square at centre; solid square at bottom right
The bottom row must use solid squares, because the row shapes and fills are circle none, triangle half, and square solid. The third column always has three elements at tl, c and br, so Option D is the only complete figure.
Discuss this question3. Which figure completes the pattern? Choose the figure that replaces the question mark.
- A. Solid arrow pointing down at bottom right
- B. Solid arrow pointing right at bottom right
- C. Solid pentagon at bottom right
- D. Solid arrow pointing down at bottom centre
The third row contains arrows, and the arrows turn from 0 to 90 to 180 degrees. The final position is the bottom-right cell, so option A is the only completion.
Discuss this question4. Which figure completes the pattern? Choose the figure that replaces the question mark.
- A. Solid square at centre; small solid triangle pointing down at top left; small solid triangle pointing down at top centre; small solid triangle pointing down at top right
- B. Half-shaded square, shaded up at centre; small solid triangle pointing down at top left; small solid triangle pointing down at top centre; small solid triangle pointing down at top right
- C. Solid square at centre; small solid triangle pointing right at top left; small solid triangle pointing right at top centre; small solid triangle pointing right at top right
- D. Solid square at centre; small solid triangle pointing down at top left; small solid triangle pointing down at top centre
The last column must contain three triangles, and the bottom row turns them through 180 degrees. The central square is solid in that row, so only option A satisfies all three changes.
Discuss this question5. Which figure completes the pattern? Choose the figure that replaces the question mark.
- A. Large solid star at centre; small solid arrow pointing down at bottom left
- B. Large solid star at centre; small solid arrow pointing down at bottom left
- C. Large half-shaded star, shaded down at centre; small solid arrow pointing down at bottom left
- D. Large solid star at centre; small solid arrow pointing down at middle right
The bottom row uses stars, the third column gives the large shape a 180-degree turn and solid fill, and the third-column arrow sits at the bottom left. Option A is the only panel matching every rule.
Discuss this questionHow to prepare for the Pak Army Soldier non verbal intelligence test
- The questions are the same types as the officer tests at an easier level. Speed matters most: practise until series, codes and figure series take seconds, not minutes.
- Track one change at a time. Ask what each shape does between two figures: does it turn, and by how much; does it move, and which way; does its shading change; does it appear or vanish?
- Rule options out rather than looking for the answer. Once one rule is clear, most options break it, and only one or two are left to check against the next rule.
- For mirror images, left and right swap and top and bottom stay. For water images, top and bottom swap and left and right stay. A quarter turn clockwise moves the top of the figure to its right side.
- Practise against the clock. Figure questions are quick once the common rules are familiar, and familiarity only comes from volume.
