Amphibians are the group of vertebrates that comprise the highest number of endangered species. They face numerous threats, including habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and a fungal disease called chytridiomycosis, which has had a devastating impact on many amphibian populations. As a result, a significant proportion of amphibian species are considered endangered or at risk of extinction according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
