In microwave transmission, at what distance are the transmission antennas/towers placed?

Explanation

The correct answer is B. 20 miles (or a range of 10 to 30 miles). Factors Affecting Microwave Transmission Distance:The actual distance achievable in microwave transmission depends on several factors:Line of sight: Microwave signals travel in straight lines and cannot bend around obstacles like buildings or mountains. Therefore, the distance between transmission antennas needs to be within a clear line of sight.Frequency: Higher frequencies are more susceptible to signal attenuation (weakening) over longer distances. Microwave frequencies typically range from 2 GHz to 30 GHz, and the specific frequency used can affect the maximum range.Weather conditions: Rain, snow, and fog can degrade microwave signals, reducing the transmission distance.Signal strength requirements: The strength of the signal received at the destination antenna is important. Stronger signals are needed for longer distances or for high-bandwidth applications.Common Range for Microwave Transmission:Given these factors, a range of 10 to 30 miles is a common ballpark for microwave transmission links. In practice, the exact distance will be determined based on specific needs and a site survey to assess factors like terrain and potential obstacles.
