If enterokinase is absent in small intestine, which digestive enzyme remains inactive?

Correct answer: B. Trypsinogen

  • A. Pepsinogen
  • B. Trypsinogen
  • C. Amylase
  • D. Lipase

Explanation

Enterokinase from the duodenal lining converts inactive trypsinogen into trypsin, which then activates the other pancreatic proteases, so without it trypsinogen stays inactive. Pepsinogen is the tempting answer but it is activated by HCl in the stomach, not by enterokinase, and amylase and lipase are secreted already active.
